Gromadziński, who recently became a three-star general, will assume his duties on June 29, Poland’s defence ministry said on Wednesday.

„On June 29, Lt. Gen. Jarosław Gromadziński will take over as commander of Eurocorps,” the Polish defence ministry said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Brig. Gen. Adam Rzeczkowski „will assume the position of Deputy Chief of Staff at Eurocorps Command,” it added.

Gromadziński has previously overseen the training of Ukrainian troops in Germany together with senior US officers, according to a February report by public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

In 2018, Gromadziński was appointed to create and lead Poland’s 18th Mechanised Division, which has since grown to become one of the country’s best-performing military units, according to officials.

The Eurocorps is a multinational military force that can be used for humanitarian, rescue and peacekeeping missions by international organisations such as the European Union, NATO and the United Nations.

It is led on a rotating basis by commanders named by participating countries.

In January 2022, Poland became one of the Eurocorps’ Framework Nations, joining France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain.
