Private Seán Rooney RIP

Speaking in the Dáil this week Mary Lou McDonald said „Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Private Seán Rooney who was killed in Lebanon this morning while on peacekeeping duty. We hope and pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured and our thoughts are with all members of Óglaigh na hÉireann at this difficult time.

„Our peacekeepers are heroes and we are proud of them for their courage and sacrifice.”

Sinn Féin fully supports our health workers in their campaign for fair pay and better working conditions

Michelle O’Neill this week pledges Sinn Féin’s full support to health workers on the picket line for fair pay and better working conditions.

She said it is disgraceful that our health workers have to campaign in freezing temperatures for what they deserve and Sinn Féin will continue to fully support our health workers.

We need a general election and a change of government

Speaking on the Government’s motion of confidence in Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien this week Mary Lou McDonald said The longer Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael remain in power, the worse the housing crisis gets.

Not only do we need a change of Housing Minister, we need a change of government.

Nurses and midwives forced to emigrate due to government failures

Sinn Féin used its Private Members’ Time in the Dáil this week to bring forward a motion to bring nurses, doctors, and health professionals home and end the crises that are driving them abroad.

Government has failed to tackle the housing and cost of living crisis and this is forcing young nurses and midwives to emigrate and stopping others from coming home.

Sinn Féin in Government, would train more and retain our key frontline staff  and fix the housing crisis to help healthcare workers to come home.

Families can’t afford to heat their homes while £600 payment is being blocked

Speaking this week John Finucane said it is disgraceful that many families can’t afford to heat their homes this winter, while a £600 support payment is being blocked. Had we had an Executive this payment would have been made.

The blocking of an Executive by one party must end.
