Zbigniew Rau’s talks in Washington are expected to focus on Russia’s war against Ukraine and Polish-US military cooperation.

His visit opened with a meeting with Republican Congressmen Steven Cohen and Addison 'Joe’ Wilson.

Cohen is co-chair of the US Congress’s Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), also known as the US Helsinki Commission.

Rau was set to take part in the Aspen Security Forum in Washington on Thursday, in a debate entitled “Winter Is Here: Defense and Security in a Europe at War.”

The Polish foreign minister was expected to deliver a speech focusing on Europe’s defence in the context of the war in Ukraine.

On Friday, Poland’s top diplomat is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
