Around 989,080 Ukrainians with temporary protection in Poland: Eurostat

By the end of February, Germany had provided temporary protection to a total of 1,000,530 Ukrainians, more than any other EU country, according to the Eurostat agency.
Among EU member states for which data are available, Poland came in second with 989,080.
In February alone, Poland granted temporary protection to 24,905 Ukrainian nationals, according to the EU statistics office.
Compared with January, the number of decisions granting temporary protection to Ukrainians in February fell in 19 of the 26 EU members with available data, it said.
Temporary protection is a procedure used in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons from third countries who are unable to return to their country of origin, Eurostat said.
