The politician added that Poland is proud of what the first Polish citizen on the International Space Station (ISS) has accomplished.
The prime minister thanked Uznański-Wiśniewski for taking part in the space mission during their meeting at the Chancellery.
The head of Polish government spoke about the importance of the mission not only from a scientific standpoint but also in terms of its social impact, noting that the astronaut’s success could serve as a powerful inspiration for younger generations.
“I am convinced that this Polish dream of space will not remain just the individual feat of our national hero,” Prime Minister Tusk said.
“It will become a whole system – one in which national security, Polish businesses, science, and technology all stand to benefit.”
Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski returned to Poland on Thursday after spending a week at ESA’s European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, where he was recovering following his mission aboard the ISS.
Before greeting a crowd of supporters at Warsaw Chopin Airport, he also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
