Russia aims to sow discord between Kyiv and Warsaw, warns PM Tusk
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk cautioned on Tuesday via social media about the threats posed by Russia amid the current geopolitical situation surrounding Ukraine.

“With a resolution in the Ukrainian war approaching, Russia is doing everything to drive a wedge between Kyiv and Warsaw,” he stressed through his profile on X (formerly Twitter).
Tusk added that “anti-Polish gestures by Ukrainians and the stirring of anti-Ukrainian sentiment in Poland are part of Putin’s script, orchestrated by foreign agents and local fools – always the same ones.”
The politician warned that various provocations in Poland could be deliberate actions by external forces.
This alert comes ahead of the August 15 US-Russia talks in Alaska, where Tusk had already insisted that Ukraine must be included in any peace negotiations, emphasizing the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
Following this, 26 EU nations – excluding Hungary – issued a joint statement affirming that any peace agreement must protect Ukrainian and European interests, guarantee Ukraine’s capacity to defend itself, and reject any forced border changes.
EU leaders stressed that Ukraine’s involvement is essential for a just and lasting peace.
PM Tusk urges against anti-Ukrainian tensions
During Tuesday’s government session, Tusk announced that following an incident at a Belarusian rapper’s concert on Saturday at Warsaw’s National Stadium, proceedings have been launched to expel 63 individuals (57 Ukrainians and 6 Belarusians) from Poland.
The politician stressed that the state must act swiftly and effectively to prevent or punish offenders, regardless of nationality, and strongly warned against fuelling anti-Ukrainian sentiments.
The head of the Polish government also highlighted the gravity of the current situation, saying: “Decisive moments in the Russia-Ukraine war may come in the coming days, though much remains uncertain. The fundamental issue is not to give Putin the gift of sowing discord between the Polish and Ukrainian peoples. Our country’s security depends on it.”
