“Organizations operating in Poland in the area of taking care of the cemeteries of Soviet soldiers are being activated. The goal is to develop information resources for use in the form of pressure on Poland,” Stanisław Żaryn, a senior official at the Polish Prime Minister’s Office and a spokesman for Poland’s security services, tweeted on the weekend.

In a series of tweets, the Polish official noted that attempts are being made to internationalize the topic of taking care of the cemeteries of Soviet soldiers in Poland.

“One should take into account the use of Russia’s activity at the UN [Russia took over the presidency of the UNSC in April] to put this issue on the agenda of international topics,” Żaryn wrote.

“Russia’s actions regarding Soviet cemeteries are an example of cynicism and hypocrisy. The Kremlin sees exploiting this topic as an opportunity to conduct further attacks on Poland,” he concluded.

According to Żaryn, Poland has been attacked by Russia for years for allegedly failing to take care of Soviet cemeteries and burial sites.

“Moscow uses these lies as part of its efforts to cover up history. In fact, Russia’s actions are aimed at getting the Polish authorities to agree to accept the Russian take on World War II history, which involves the erasure of Hitler-Stalin cooperation and a false interpretation of the events of 1945,” the Polish expert added.
