About 30 German firms considering investing in Ukraine: PM

„This week, the government team had an important visit to Berlin and a meeting with the leadership of the Federal Republic of Germany,” Shmyhal said at a meeting of his Cabinet on Friday, as quoted by state news agency Ukrinform.
„Weapons, financial support, investments by German businesses, recovery, European integration, sanctions, confiscation of Russian assets were discussed,” he added.
Shmyhal also said that Germany „is one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine in all areas” amid Russia’s invasion and that Chancellor Olaf Scholz „announced a winter aid package for Ukraine worth EUR 1.4 billion,” including air defence equipment, Ukrinform reported.
About 30 German companies are thinking of investing in Ukraine, and many others are already carrying out new projects, Shmyhal added, according to Ukrinform.
In one such project, German arms maker Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian defence industry have formed a joint-venture company for the repair and production of military equipment in Ukraine, Ukrinform reported.
„Germany will also contribute an additional EUR 54 million to the Energy Recovery Fund and hand over about 30 repair machines for Ukrainian regional energy companies,” Shmyhal was quoted as saying.
