US tariffs on EU goods set to cost Poland over $2 bn: PM
Poland could lose more than USD 2 billion due to new US tariffs on European Union goods, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Tuesday.

His estimate came after US President Donald Trump and European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen reached a trade deal on Sunday that includes 15-percent tariffs on most goods imported from the EU.
The agreement, struck in Scotland, also includes a commitment from the EU to invest hundreds of billions of euros in the American energy and defence sectors, according to Trump.
In a post on the X social media platform, Tusk said the deal would deliver a significant blow to Polish exporters.
He noted, however, that the outcome could have been worse.
„American tariffs on European products have become a reality. They’re half the size of those proposed by President Trump in April, but there’s no reason to celebrate,” he wrote.
According to preliminary estimates, Poland stands to lose around PLN 8 billion (EUR 1.87 billion, USD 2.15 billion), Tusk said.
The losses could have reached PLN 15 billion if the original tariff proposal had gone through, he added.
Tusk predicted the tariffs would be painful „on both sides of the Atlantic,” but said that „a tough trade deal is still better than a senseless tariff war between allies.”
