Trump losing patience with Putin over Ukraine stalemate: Rubio

US President Donald Trump is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with Russia’s failure to make meaningful progress toward ending its war against Ukraine, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In an interview with Fox News on Saturday, Rubio stated that while President Trump remains committed to pursuing a peace agreement, he is running out of patience with what he described as Moscow’s deliberate stalling and lack of genuine engagement.
“He is losing patience. He is losing his willingness to continue waiting for Russia to do something,” Rubio said, referencing ongoing but unproductive communication between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Rubio stressed that although Trump does not see the war as his own, he considers bringing it to a conclusion a central priority of his administration. However, he is unwilling to be drawn into what Rubio described as “endless talks about talks.”
Rubio also cited the growing toll of the conflict, marked by destruction, and what he called a clear pattern of Russian delay tactics.
Rubio’s comments come amid continued speculation about the future of U.S. involvement in the conflict and whether Trump will impose stricter conditions on further dialogue with Russia.
Meanwhile, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Saturday said that peace talks and a settlement in Ukraine had never been on the real agenda of the West.
In her first comments on negotiations since Russian and Ukrainian officials held talks on Wednesday, she argued that if the West wanted „real peace” in Ukraine, it would stop supplying Kyiv with weapons.
