Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki is due to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky later this week in Warsaw, with talks expected to focus on security, economic cooperation and historical issues, according to officials.

The Polish president’s office said it had proposed Friday, 19 December, as the date for the visit, with „details currently being finalised”.
The spokesman for president Nawrocki, Rafał Leśkiewicz, said the meeting would centre on key bilateral and regional matters, including „security, economic and historical issues”.
The announcement comes as peace negotiations over Russia’s war in Ukraine continue to evolve, with Western and Ukrainian leaders engaged in talks aimed at securing a ceasefire and a durable settlement.
President Zelensky confirmed the planned visit earlier on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists, he said Poland had suggested Friday as the date and that Kyiv saw no reason to postpone the trip.
„For us, it is very important to maintain relations between Ukraine and Poland,” Zelensky said, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
