Nationwide alert issued as Poland reinstates border checks with Germany and Lithuania
The Government Centre for Security has issued an official nationwide alert ahead of the temporary reintroduction of border controls on Poland’s borders with Germany and Lithuania starting on Monday.

Poland will reintroduce temporary border controls on its frontiers with Germany and Lithuania starting on 7 July, the Government Centre for Security (RCB) said in a nationwide alert on Sunday.
The controls will be carried out by the Polish Border Guard at 52 checkpoints along the German border and 13 along the Lithuanian border, primarily targeting vehicles entering Poland.
Authorities will focus on buses and cars carrying multiple passengers, especially those with tinted windows.
The measures, which will last for 30 days, will involve spot checks.
Crossing the border at unauthorized locations will incur financial penalties.
Poland has previously reinstated internal Schengen border controls in response to increased migration flows, epidemics, or significant international events.
According to officials, the aim of the current controls is to prevent illegal migration.
