The man, identified only as Artem S. under Polish privacy laws, was wanted by Romanian authorities under a European Arrest Warrant, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said in a post on X.
„The Central Bureau of Police Investigation (CBŚP) arrested Artem S., a Ukrainian citizen wanted under a European Arrest Warrant by Romania. He is suspected of taking part in preparing sabotage by setting fire to an arms plant. The arson took place on September 14,” Kierwiński wrote.
CBŚP spokesman Krzysztof Wrześniowski said the suspect was detained by officers from a unit responsible for combating acts of terror.
Polish police said acts of sabotage targeting facilities involved in the development of strategic military technologies could pose a serious threat to public safety and critical infrastructure.
They said arson attacks on such facilities could endanger people’s lives, cause significant material losses and undermine national security.
