EU states poised to clear EUR 6.2 bn for Poland’s recovery plan
EU states are expected Thursday to clear an EUR 6.2 billion payout to Poland under its National Recovery Plan, moving Warsaw closer to receiving a third tranche for heating upgrades, wind power, digitalization and roads.

The bloc’s Economic Policy Committee is due to give the green light on Thursday, according to reports, paving the way for a final opinion next week from the Economic and Financial Committee composed of representatives of the 27 member states.
The European Commission granted a preliminary approval last week. All procedures must be completed before the Commission issues its final decision and funds can flow.
The EUR 6.2 billion (about PLN 26 billion) is intended, among other uses, for modernizing residential heating systems, creating low-emission zones and investing in offshore wind energy.
The tranche will also support the introduction of standards for child-care quality, investments in the digital sector and the rollout of 5G technology, as well as road modernization.
