President Karol Nawrocki said a logistics hub in Rzeszów-Jasionka is crucial to supporting Ukraine and securing NATO’s eastern flank, as he marked its restored full operations and called for “symmetry” in Polish-Ukrainian relations.

Nawrocki on Tuesday visited the POLLOGHUB Logistics Center in Rzeszów-Jasionka, praising it as indispensable to Ukraine’s defense against Russia and to the security of NATO’s eastern flank.

“This is the 1,399th day of POLLOGHUB’s functioning and the first day after the restoration of full operational capacity,” Nawrocki told reporters after meeting troops stationed at the site, where aid for Ukraine lands and is distributed onward.

“Thanks to places like the logistics hub in Podkarpacie, the defense of Ukraine against the Russian Federation is possible.”

Nawrocki said nearly 500 soldiers serve at the hub, about half from the Territorial Defense Forces. He added that the facility is “a place without which it would not be possible to ensure the security of NATO’s eastern flank.”

Citing Poland’s role since the start of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Nawrocki said “over 95% of all donations” from “over 40 countries” supporting Ukraine pass through the Jasionka hub, underscoring what he called Poland’s “enormous effort” in building responsibility for armed forces and alliance relations.

He said the security of the eastern flank is being sustained “by the effort of the Polish budget [and] the Polish soldier,” and that the site “defines Poland’s role in the North Atlantic Alliance and shows how important and responsible an ally the Republic of Poland is.”

Asked about his and the government’s stance on aid to Ukraine, Nawrocki said there is strategic alignment, while noting differences over bilateral issues. He said support for Ukraine “is part of the strategy of the Polish state,” but added he expects “balance and reciprocity” in relations and recognition from President Volodymyr Zelensky for Poland’s humanitarian and military effort.

“In strategic terms, support for Ukraine is, of course, what unites us,” he said. “At the same time, I consistently demand symmetry in relations between Poland and Ukraine and I hope President Zelensky will visit me in Warsaw. We will have an opportunity to talk, because there are also issues that Poland has to settle with Ukraine.”
