The mascot, named Islana, symbolises the growth of the women’s game and reflects the creativity and vibrancy of the sport, football’s world governing body FIFA said.
Inspired by Slavic folklore, the character is designed to capture a playful spirit and transform on-field action into joy, FIFA said.
„Poland is poised to take centre stage this September as the global platform on which a new generation of women’s football stars will shine and inspire the world,” FIFA said in a statement.
Describing the mascot as a cousin of the rusałki water nymphs from Slavic mythology, FIFA said Islana is a „guardian of nature” with a „playful and uplifting spirit” that „watches over up-and-coming footballers everywhere, especially those who play the beautiful game with a smile on their faces and a fearless approach.”
The tournament will feature 24 national teams competing across four Polish host cities—Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Łódź and Sosnowiec—from September 5 to 27.
