China has expanded its unilateral visa-free policy to 48 countries, allowing citizens to enter the country without a visa for up to 30 days, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on 3 November via social media.

“With Sweden newly added, the citizens of 48 countries now enjoy unilateral visa-free access to China. China’s door to the world is opening wider than ever. We invite more international friends to see China and its progress firsthand,” she said.
According to China Radio International, the Consular Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a notice on 3 November extending the visa-free programme.
Citizens of Poland, France, Germany, and other eligible countries will now be able to enter China without a visa until 31 December 2026. Sweden will be included from 10 November 2025 until 31 December 2026.
Holders of ordinary passports from the remaining eligible countries can travel to China for tourism, business, visiting friends and family, exchanges, or transit for periods of up to 30 days. Travelers who do not meet the programme’s requirements must still obtain a visa before entering China.
The extension aims to facilitate international exchanges and revive tourism following pandemic-related restrictions, covering countries in Europe, Asia, South America, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
