An anonymous Chinese government source for the Washington Post has revealed that while it retains sympathy for Russia, China will not be drawn into conflict with the USA, despite appeals from Russia for more economic support.

The anonymous source for the Washington Post is quoted as saying China „understands the difficult situation Russia is in” but that China’s own interests will always take first place.
The source revealed that recent talks between China and Russia have been „tense”.
China does not want to aid Russia in avoiding sanctions for fear that this could lead to technological sanctions being placed on China itself.
