Your Invitation to the SocDems Summer School

We’re delighted to extend an invitation to you to join the Social Democrats Summer School on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August.

The last 18 months have been dominated by the Covid-19 pandemic, and more particularly the lockdown, which has surely been one of the most consequential periods in the lives of all who have experienced it.

Politically and socially, the lockdown has exposed the divisions in our society and exposed the fallacy of a two-tier market-driven health system for what it is. The need to rebuild better is a striking reality of post pandemic Ireland, not just in health, but also housing, work and the environment.

Our online Summer School, presented by The Left Bank, will tease out and interrogate these issues – focusing most particularly on what lessons, if any, we can learn from the pandemic and what steps we must take as a society in the future.

Dr. Ida Milne on the social changes and lessons from previous pandemics;
Journalist James Bloodworth, author of The Myth of Meritocracy and Hired: Six Months Undercover in low-wage Britain;

Eric Lonergan, author of Angrynomics
and many more fascinating speakers on a diverse range of subjects.
