Poles aged 18-24 experienced depression, a feeling of helplessness and fatigue more frequently last year than at any other time in the last two decades, according to a study.

The survey by pollster CBOS said the results could be linked to young people experiencing conditions they didn’t encounter in previous years: being isolated at home, lack of contact with their peers and attending school classes remotely amid the COVID-19 epidemic.

The study found that young Poles reported feeling depressed, helpless and tired more often than older people.

The survey was carried out between November 30 and December 10, asking 1,010 Poles for their views.

Schools and universities throughout the country switched to distance learning last year amid an epidemic that has now claimed over 30,000 lives in Poland.
