British Government agrees to legislate for Acht na Gaeilge

The British Government this week agreed to legislate for Acht na Gaeilge and the cultural package, paving the way for Sinn Féin to nominate Michelle O’Neill as Deputy First Minister.

There was turmoil in the DUP after Edwin Poots nominated Paul Givan as First Minister seemingly against the wishes of the majority of his party’s MLAs.

Later in the day Poots announced that he has asked the DUP’s Chairperson to open an electoral process to elect a new party leader.

Aontaíonn Rialtas na Breataine go reachtóidh siad Acht Gaeilge

D’aontaigh Rialtas na Breataine go reachtóidh siad Acht Gaeilge agus an beart cultúrtha. Réitigh seo an bealadh do Shinn Féin ainmniúchán ina Leas Chéad Aire a dhéanamh de Michelle Uí Néill.

Bhí an DUP suaite nuair a d’ainminigh Edwin Poots Paul Givan ina Chéad Aire in éadan mianta tromlach a pháirtí.

Leoga, beidh imeacht comórtha ar líne againn le bunaitheoirí an Phoblachtas, Theobald Wolfe Tone.

Beidh an comóradh ar líne i mbliana ar dháta breithe Wolfe Tone, 20 Bealtaine ar 8i.n.. Craolfar an t-imeacht seo ar Sinn Féin Ireland Facebook, Twitter, YouTube agus suíomh gréasáin Shinn Féin ag www.sinnfein.ie.

Ban rent increases

With thousands facing eviction it is time for the government to reintroduce the blanket ban on rent increases, and a ban on notices to quit & evictions until the end of the year. Give renters some assurance that the Government is not totally consumed by developers and landlords!

Cuir toirmeasc ar arduithe ar chíosanna

Agus bagairt roimh na mílte na ndíbeofar iad, tá sé in am don rialtas an toirmeasc ar arduithe cíosa a thabhairt isteach arís agus toirmeasc a chur dhaoine a dhíbirt go deireadh na bliana.

Tabhair misneach do chíosóirí nach bhfuil an rialtas gafa ar fad le forbróirí agus tiarnaí talún.

Double investment to build more homes

Addressing the Tánaiste in the Dáil this week Pearse Doherty called again for a doubling of capital investment in house building.

He said This government simply doesn’t get it because they created this housing crisis.  Sinn Féin, the Central Bank and ESRI are all telling them the same thing – double the amount of investment to build more affordable homes.

Dúbail an infheistíocht le níos mó tithe a thógáil

Ag labhairt leis an Tanáiste an tseachtain seo sa Dáil, d’iarr Piarais Ó Dochartaigh dúbailt ar an infheistíocht chaipitil ar thógáil tithe.

Dúirt sé 'Ní thuigeann an rialtas seo ar chóir ar bith gurb iad a chruthaigh an ghéarchéim tithíochta seo, tá Sinn Féin, an Banc Ceannais agus an ESRI ag rá an rud céanna – dúbail an infheistíocht le níos mó tithe inacmhainne a thógáil.

MICA protestors bring campaign to Dublin

Protestors seeking 100% redress for homes destroyed by MICA and Pyrite brought their campaign to the streets of Dublin this week.  They were supported by Sinn Féin who brought forward a Dáil motion on the issue.

As protestors gathered outside the Convention Centre we learned that the Government would not oppose Sinn Féin’s motion.

Sinn Féin described this as a victory for the campaigning families and called for urgent action from Government on the back of the motion passing.

Bailíonn agóidithe MICA go Baile Átha Cliath lena bhfeachtas

Bhailigh agóidithe atá ag iarraidh cúiteamh 100% as tithe a scriosadh ag MICA agus Pyritte, go Baile Átha Cliath lena bhfeachtas an tseachtain seo. Thacaigh Sinn Féin leo agus thug muid rún chun tosaigh sa Dáil ar an cheist.

De réir mar a bhailigh na hagóidithe taobh amuigh den Convention Centre, fuair muid scéala nach gcuirfeadh an rialtas in éadan rún Shinn Féin.

Mhaígh Sinn Féin gur bua a bhí ann do na teaghlaigh agus d’iarr siad gníomh práinneach ón rialtas as siocair gur éirigh leis an rún.
