Urgent action must be taken to tackle violence against women and girls

Speaking in the Dáil this week, in the wake of the horrific murder of Ashling Murphy, Mary Lou McDonald said urgent action must be taken to tackle violence against women and girls in our society.

This moment has to be a turning point, a moment that requires political leadership. Now is the time for us to come together to say enough is enough.

Ní mór gníomhú láithreach le dul i ngleic le foréigean in aghaidh ban agus cailíní.

Agus í ag caint sa Dáil an tseachtain seo, i ndiaidh dhúnmharú uafásach Ashling Murphy, dúirt Mary Lou McDonald nach mór gníomhú le dul i ngleic le foréigean in aghaidh ban agus cailíní sa tsochaí.

Caithfidh gurb í seo uair na cinniúna, agus tá ceannaireacht pholaitiúil ag teastáil le tabhairt faoi. Tá sé thar am againn seasamh le chéile agus a rá nach nglacfar leis seo a thuilleadh.

Family carers must be included in the pandemic bonus

Speaking in the Dáil this week Sinn Féin Finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty said family carers must be included in the pandemic bonus. Over the last two years many crucial services they rely on were reduced or closed entirely. The role they’ve played in keeping loved ones safe and the impact on their own mental and financial wellbeing cannot be ignored.

Ní mór cúramóirí teaghlaigh a bheith san áireamh agus bónas na paindéime á íoc

Agus é ag caint sa Dáil an tseachtain seo dúirt urlabhra airgeadais Shinn Féin, Piaras Ó Dochartaigh, nach mór cúramóirí teaghlaigh a bheith san áireamh agus bónas na paindéime á íoc. Le dhá bhliain anuas laghdaíodh cuid mhór nó druideadh ar fad go leor seirbhísí riachtanacha a raibh siad ag brath orthu. Ní féidir neamhaird a dhéanamh ar an ról a bhí acu agus ár muintir a choinneáil slán ná ar an tionchar a bhí aige seo ar a meabhairshláinte ná ar dhálaí airgeadais s’acu.
