Polish unemployment rises to 5.5% in January: labour ministry
Unemployment in Poland rose to 5.5 percent in January from 5.2 percent in December, Deputy Labour Minister Stanisław Szwed said on Thursday.

He added that he expected joblessness to fall in the coming months.
January „is the most difficult month when it comes to seasonal or occasional work,” Szwed said.
He added that there were 920,000 people without work in Poland last month.
Unemployment in December edged up to 5.2 percent from 5.1 percent in November, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).
The European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, said last week that unemployment in Poland was a modest 3.3 percent in December, one of the lowest rates in the European Union.
