Andrzej Duda on Saturday joined a Nordic walking event aiming to promote the development of transplant surgery in Poland, state news agency PAP reported.

“I am a strong supporter of transplantation as a way of de facto saving people’s lives,” Duda said during the event in the southern Polish mountain resort of Zakopane.

He added that “a lack of organs for transplantation in effect means that someone who is sick will die.”

The president encouraged Poles to choose to donate organs after death and say “yes to transplantation” in line with the motto of the event.
