Morawiecki tweeted on Saturday that at the request of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis Poland will send a group of firefighters to his country to help fight its recent wildfires.
He added that he had decided that a group of firefighters with nearly 50 fire service vehicles would be sent to Greece on Saturday.
As junior captain Grzegorz Trzeciak from the National Headquarters of the State Fire Service told state news agency PAP, exactly 143 firefighters and 46 vehicles will go to Greece.
The wildfires in Euboea, northeast of Athens, and in many places in the southern Peloponnese region, have now spread and are reaching within 20 kilometers of Athens.
On Saturday morning, a squad of firefighters set off from Poland to Germany to help flood-affected areas. Also on Saturday, Polish firefighters and police officers in a police helicopter set off for Turkey to help put out fires in the south of the country.
