The plan for 2021-2030 aims to enable people with disabilities to be independent and fully participate in various areas of life, giving them better access to education, public services and employment opportunities.

Family and Social Policy Minister Marlena Maląg said: “Today is a very important moment for people with disabilities.”

Just over 28 percent of Poles with disabilities are professionally active. The goal of the new government strategy is to increase this to at least 45 percent in 10 years, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Earlier this month, officials announced plans to set up a network to improve treatment of Polish patients with heart problems, and a chain of centres for people with cancer.
