The move aims to protect local workers who could otherwise face criminal charges, the company said on Tuesday, as cited by the wirtualnemedia.pl website.
„Our employees and managers in Russia face severe criminal consequences should we refrain from serving local demand,” Continental said in a statement, as quoted by the Reuters news agency.
The company added that its products were intended for civilian use, according to wirtualnemedia.pl.
Public broadcaster Polish Radio last month said it would stop running ads for French retailer Leroy Merlin, which continued to operate in Russia despite Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Polish Radio said at the time it would not maintain advertising links “with any company that does business in Russia, supporting Putin’s criminal regime.”
