More than 5,000 people kill themselves every year in Poland, a figure higher than the number who die in car accidents in this country, according to the health ministry.
World Suicide Prevention Day is organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention.
Its purpose is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), which supports efforts to stop people taking their own lives.
