Sinn Féin at the Ploughing

Once again this year Sinn Féin will have a strong presence at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, County Laois.

Mary Lou McDonald, Michelle O’Neill, Pearse Doherty, Claire Kerrane, Matt Carthy, Chris MacManus, Declan McAleer are just some of the representatives set to attend the Sinn Féin stand over the course of the three day event.

If you are planning to attend the Ploughing Championships, why not pop in and say hello?  You will find us at Block 14, Row 4, Stand 242.

Chieftain’s Walk takes place tomorrow

The 'Chieftains Walk’ (Siúlóid an Taoisigh) will take place this Sunday, September 18th and we are encouraging party members to sign up to remember and pay tribute to Martin McGuinness.

Funding from the Walk will assist the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation celebrate Martin’s life and legacy.

Sinn Féin plan to help workers and families with the cost of living crisis

In the first Private Members Debate of the new Dáil term this week Sinn Féin brought forward its plan to help workers and families with the cost of living crisis.

This includes cutting household electricity bills and capping them at 2021 prices, giving direct cash payments to middle and low income households, providing a double child benefit payment for every child and introducing a windfall tax on the massive profits of energy companies.

Government must introduce a Windfall Tax on energy companies

Speaking at the European Parliament this week Sinn Féin MEP Chris MacManus said the government must introduce a windfall tax on energy companies and redirect the money back into people’s pockets.

He said our most basic needs are under threat from the selfish profiteering of energy companies and the perplexing inaction of government.

Government must act now to cut electricity bills

Speaking at the first Leaders’ Question of the new Dáil term this week Mary Lou McDonald said the Government needs to act now by cutting electricity bills back to pre-crisis levels and keeping them there for the winter months.

Serious investment and reform needed to ensure school transport places

Speaking at Leaders’ Questions on Thursday afternoon Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke said serious investment and reform needed to ensure school transport places for children who wish to avail of them.

She said she does not accept the utter failure to plan when it comes to school transport.
